SUMMARY:Overflowing Afterwork Yoga & Pub
DESCRIPTION:Facilitated by Cassie Thornton\nPresented by the Art & Activism Collective at NSCAD\nin partnership with the Nova Scotia Nurses’ Union\nIn celebration of May Day\, The Feminist Economics Department (The FED) will host happy hour for people who are finished with work. \nOur Happy Hour consists of a traditional overflow of beverages as well as a post-work yoga class. This powerful flow will squeeze your sacred beliefs in economic industriousness as your highest calling. You will shriek when your authentic happy baby exerts a slow but continual downward pressure on your assumption that work is the most central feature of your adult life. And we will shift our organs around to make room for a future where your most critical value (ie. golden nectar) is not derived from your paid labor. \nNOTE: The event is FREE* \n*One class costs 1.5 volunteer women hours\, pay at the bar. \nDates:\nWeek days:\nMay 3\, 4\, 5\, 6 – 5:30pm-7:00pm yoga\, bar is open from 5:00pm-8:00pm \nWeekend:\nMay 7: Re-imagining Motherhood\, 10am-12:00pm\nMay 8\, – 11:00am-12:30pm yoga \n

SUMMARY:Re-imagining Motherhood
DESCRIPTION:with The Halifax Motherhood Collective & The FED\nin partnership with the Nova Scotia Nurses’ Union\nCaring labour — for children\, elders\, families — is commonly undervalued in comparison to paid work. Please join us for an alternative Mother’s Day event that questions what “work” can be in a post-work society and offers space to consider new ways of being a mother\, a parent\, and a caregiver in today’s world.\n \nThe Feminist Economics Department (the FED) is excited to co-create a space for a feminist discussion of motherhood with the Halifax Motherhood Collective. This event will be the culmination of a one-week post-workist yoga offering at the Art Bar at NSCAD. \nJoin us for beverages\, snacks\, childcare\, discussion\, and yoga \n10-11am kundalini-based yoga for feminists & mothers\n11-noon discussion and event planning: re-envisioning public spaces to meet the needs of children and their families \nA child-care space will be provided. \n  \n
