May Day Rally & March

May 1, 2016 | 1:00 pm2:00 pm

| Free

Join the Halifax-Dartmouth & District Labour Council and our social movement allies
to celebrate International Workers’ Day!

May Day is the international day of the working class. It commemorates the Haymarket Massacre in 1886 and the struggle by the workers’ movement for the 8 hour day. A struggle that continues today, as more and more workers are forced to work more than 8 hours a day to make ends meet.
May Day is celebrated by trade unionists and socialists worldwide to remember the gains we have made and continue the struggle for freedom and socialism and against capitalism and oppression.

The rally will begin at Grand Parade and march north to its final destination at The Company House for the Precarious Creative Workers of the World: Little Red Songbook Launch at 2:30pm.
