Mayworks Kjipuktuk/Halifax is an interdisciplinary arts festival celebrating the connection between the labour movement and art, art making as labour, as well art exploring racial justice, environmental justice, and other aspects of social justice movements. The festival kicks off on or near May 1st, International Workers Day, a celebration of workers and bold declaration that “Captialism isn’t Working for Workers.” For more information about May Day, refer to this digital flyer.
The festival’s interest reaches beyond art that relates directly to labour, work or the workplace, and includes art that speaks to any fight for social, economic or environmental justice.
