Mayworks reiterates its solidarity with the Palestinian people and support for an arms embargo on the state of Israel. We also continue to proudly echo the statement on the occupation of Palestine issued by The Bus Stop Theatre Co-op, of which we are a member.
We would further like to formally state our endorsement of the Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel (PACBI). We strongly believe that cultural production plays an essential role in the shaping of our world and commit ourselves to not support cultural works that promote or enable settler colonialism, apartheid, ethnic cleansing or genocide.
PACBI is one of the founding partners who, in 2004, established the broader Palestinian led Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaign. We commit to following their guidelines and not support cultural works or products that are either funded or commissioned by the state of Israel, or those works and products that normalize or misrepresent the occupation of Palestine.
We also encourage all artists and the general public to support the BDS campaign by boycotting companies that are producers or disseminators of cultural products in breach of the PACBI guidelines, such as Disney+/Marvel and Indigo/Chapters.
